Delta Leadership Pathways Has Officially Launched!
On the 15th of December, Delta Academies Trust proudly launched its new Leadership Pathways programme at Education House, welcoming over 150 colleagues from across the trust for an inspiring and forward-looking event.
Delta has long recognised the importance of developing leadership capacity, not only across the trust but within the wider education sector. This year’s conference theme, being future-ready for a changing landscape, placed a clear spotlight on the need to future-proof exceptional leadership. At Delta, we believe the leaders of tomorrow are already working in our schools today.

Leadership Pathways is a new development for the trust, designed to complement the extensive suite of NPQs delivered through the Exchange Teaching Hub. While NPQs provide strong research-informed and academic foundations, Leadership Pathways focuses on practical leadership experience, delivered by experts in their fields.
The programme offers four bespoke pathways, supporting:
- Aspirant Middle Leaders
- Aspirant Senior Leaders
- Aspirant Principals
- Aspirant Executive Leaders
Each pathway is tailored to the demands of leadership at that level, with focused training in areas including timetabling, finance, HR, compliance, teaching and learning and inclusion. Participants will benefit from experience days across the trust, shadowing established leaders, alongside opportunities to work beyond Delta with other high-performing trusts and executive leaders providing external school support.

More than 150 colleagues have secured places on the programme. The launch event featured input from CEO Andy Barnett, who spoke on leading through vision and values, and Director of HR Helen Ruddle, who presented on leading through people.

Chris McCall, Executive Principal Secondary:
“This is a real opportunity for colleagues to forge professional friendships that mutually enhance leadership across the trust, strengthening Delta and, crucially, improving outcomes and experiences for young people.”
Kate Rowley, Director of Primary Education:
“We are thrilled by both the number of applicants and the quality of applications. There is a real buzz around the programme and we are excited to get started.”

As part of the Leadership Pathways offer, a series of evening Expert Knowledge sessions will be open to all staff. These will be advertised in January , so keep an eye out on LinkedIn and other platforms!
